The University of Canberra is holding a course on insect identification for museum collections. The course is designed for professionals within the museums and galleries sector who care and manage collections. The course, run over 1.5 days, will provide collection services professionals an introduction to insects, an understanding and identification of insect pests within the museum and gallery context.
Students will explore basic insect anatomy morphology and delve into the life cycles of insects to understand how to identify insects and other arthropods. Students will gain skills in identifying insects and assessing the effects of these insects in collection storage and displays spaces, to better manage the care of these collections through understanding insects found in their collections.
