The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is calling for nominations for authors to create Diagnostic Protocols (DPs) on Tephritidae: molecular identification of immature stages of fruit flies of economic importance to genus. This is part of the ongoing work of the Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP).
Participation in these IPPC forums is an important way for Australia to contribute to the development of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs). IPPC seeks expressions of interest from qualified individuals, as Australia can nominate one representative for the panel.
Please note that while Australia can put forward a nomination, this does not guarantee that the nominee will be selected by the IPPC.
Members of IPPC technical panels serve five year terms and must allocate appropriate time to the panel’s work. Members must commit to attending all panel meetings, both virtual and in-person. While no travel is anticipated to be required for this role, should it become necessary, travel costs will be covered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
Interested candidates should discuss their potential involvement with their managers or supervisors. To move forward with the nomination, candidates must submit the following materials to the IPPC Contact Point at IPPC.contactpoint@aff.gov.au by the COB Thursday 18 February 2025:
The IPPC Contact Point will handle the submission of nominations on behalf of the candidates.
This is a valuable opportunity for qualified individuals to represent Australia internationally. For more information, contact IPPC.contactpoint@aff.gov.au or visit the IPPC website.
