Plant Health Australia (PHA) is seeking tenders for the delivery of services to begin implementing the National Plant Pest Reference Collections Strategy.

The National Plant Pest Reference Collections Strategy and Implementation Plan were developed by a working group of the Subcommittee on Plant Health Diagnostics (SPHD), a subcommittee of the Plant Health Committee. Both the strategy and implementation plan have been endorsed by Plant Health Committee.

PHA has received funding from the Department of Agriculture as part of the Plant Biosecurity and Response Reform program to facilitate progression of the National Plant Pest Reference Collections Strategy implementation plan

The purpose of this tender is to identify an appropriate service provider to deliver the following outcomes:

  1. determine the coverage of National Priority Plant Pests (NPPPs) in Australian reference collections
  2. provide advice on diagnostic need for reference specimens where gaps in the coverage of NPPPs are identified
  3. recommend a prioritised approach to and solutions for addressing key gaps
  4. provide advice on project pathways to develop nationally agreed standards for curation and the vouchering of specimens
